Shahid Afridi gets trolled by former England cricketer, Pakistan fans hit back

Former Pakistan all rounder Shahid Afridi, on this day, scored a ODI century off just 37 deliveries against Sri Lanka in 1996. It was Afridi’s maiden century in international cricket as he concluded with 102 runs in 40 deliveries.

On ESPN Cricinfo’s post on social media, former England international, Nick Compton mocked Shahid Afridi’s achievement with a humorous reply. “And never scored a run thereafter,” Compton replied on the post.

However Pakistan cricket fans did not take Compton’s comment well as they slammed the former cricketer.

Pakistan cricket fans were angered by Compton’s reply as they reminded former England international of his own Test average of 28.

"Hardly anybody knows you", one fan commented.

During the match, the 44 year old smashed 102 of just 40 balls, which included 11 sixes and six fours. His innings helped Pakistan register 82 runs win over Sri Lanka.

Later, Afridi’s record was broken by New Zealand’s Corey Anderson when he smashed a hundred in just 36 balls in 2014 against West Indies. Corey Anderson’s feat lasted for over a year before former South Africa skipper, AB de Villiers entered the record books with 100 runs of just 31 deliveries against West Indies.
