NEET 2018: Planning to study in abroad? Read this before applying for UG medical courses

NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) will be mandatory for those students who are planning to study undergraduate medical courses in foreign universities this year. This decision will affect a number of students who are going to apply for courses in China, Russia and other.

This was the proposal of the Medical Council of India (MCI) and get approved by the Union Health Ministry on 13 February. Therefore, students need to pass the NEET to get the eligibility certificate so as to study in medical colleges in abroad.

According to the Health Ministry order, ' It has come to notice that medical institutions / Universities of foreign countries admit Indian students without proper assessment or screening of the students’ academic ability to cope up with medical education with the result that many students fail to qualify the Screening Test'.

Students around 12 lakh, appear for the Neet to take an admission for the undergraduate medical course every year for about 68,0000 MBBS seats.

While the other students also apply for dental and Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) courses. Whereas the about 4 lakh students are trying their career for other entrance exams.

Although this year NEET has brought many changes in the exam pattern and for AYUSH students, NEET also gets mandatory to qualify the exam.

However, the NEET will be conducted on 6 May 2018 across the country.
