65-year-old woman gangraped by five, including four minors

In a shocking incident reported from Madhya Pradesh’s Singrauli, a 65-year-old woman was allegedly raped by five men, including five minors. The horrifying incident occurred on 14th August night at the railway crossing which falls under the jurisdiction of Jayant police outpost.

All the accused have been taken into custody, police said. Police said the accused were under the influence of some intoxicant when the crime was carried out.

The elderly victim, who sells 'dantoon', was going back from her sister’s house when she was held up by the five accused. They then gang-raped the woman.

A case has been filed against five unknown people and a manhunt was set in motion to arrest the accused after the woman narrated her ordeal to the police.

"The crime spot near the railway crossing was examined on Monday. Suspicious movement of some youngsters was recalled by people working near the crime spot after which two minors were detained. The minors were identified by the victim and the two revealed the identity of the remaining three accused," said Jayant police outpost official Abhimanyu Divedi.

The five accused live near a place where the crime happened and are often seen dawdling near the railway crossing, police said.

In another incident reported from the national capital, a 23-year-old man died on 14th August after his throat was slit by the banned Chinese manjha (thread), while he was riding a bike in Outer Delhi's Mangolpuri-Sultanpuri flyover, autopsy confirmed.

The victim has been identified as Saurav Dahiya, a native of Najafgarh. He had just completed his graduation and was on his way to his aunt's house at Kanhaiya Nagar at the time of the incident.

The victim was right away rushed to the Saroj Hospital at Pritam Pura by an eye witness, where he was declared dead on arrival.

"The postmortem has confirmed his death due to excessive bleeding from the injury of the neck caused due to cut," police said.

Further probe is underway.
