Odisha: Man rapes 6-year-old girl on pretext of giving chocolate, kills her later

In an extremely shocking incident reported from Odisha’s Nayagarh, a six-year-old girl was killed and was also raped before being murdered. While the police have taken the 22-year-old accused into their custody, the episode has precipitated a lot of public outrage in the area.

According to a report by The Times of India, the accused, identified as Sagar Dalai has been taken into police custody and produced before court on Thursday and later sent to judicial custody.

The minor girl had gone missing from her home on 12th June. While the family registered a missing complaint with the Banigochha police, her body was discovered four days later close by the village.

According to police, the village where the incident happened only has ten houses and upon interrogating each, the man confessed to raping and killing the minor girl. He was nabbed soon after. Police said the main motive behind the murder was sexual assault.

The accused took the minor girl away on the pretext of giving her chocolates and instead sexually assaulted and murdered her. Locals in the area became suspicious of him as he would often been seen with the local kids and notified the cops as the accused used to show them pictures on his smartphone and would often hang out with them.
