Shillong-based I-League club Royal Wahingdoh FC cruised to a comfortable win in the opening game of the U18 I-League North East zone on Friday, 30 October, beating Sports Authority of India (SAI) 3-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong.
In a game that was dominated by Wahingdoh, Seiminmang Manchong gave the club an early lead in the 5th minute. Skipper Ajay Chettri doubled the team's lead early on in the second half with a coolly taken penalty in the 47th minute.
Eight minutes later, Heibormi Talang struck once again for Wahingdoh to stretch the club's lead to 3-0. The Shillong club held on for the rest of the game as the SAI team failed to unlock their well-organised defence.
With 3 points in their kitty, Royal Wahingdoh will next face local rivals Shillong Lajong in a crucial game on Thursday, 5 November.
