Gujarat shocker: Woman, infant son set ablaze by husband after feud
In what was a horrifying incident of crime, a 30-year-old woman and her eight-month-old son were allegedly doused with kerosene and set ablaze by her husband, aged 32, at their residence at Methan village in Gujarat’s Jamnagar district on Sunday. The woman and her infant son are being given treatment at a hospital while the accused has been taken into police custody.
The woman, has been identified as Bhavna Marwadi. She tied the knot with Naresh Marwadi around four years back. It was the second marriage for the woman. On Sunday, Naresh told Bhavna that she was not looking after their eight-month-old kid, identified as Ranjit. He even said that he no longer liked her. A heated argument erupted between the couple over the issue.
As maintained by a report by The Times of India (TOI), the woman later went to the kitchen along with the baby. She was carrying the child in her arms and cooking. Naresh, who was infuriated over the issue, set her ablaze after dousing her with kerosene. Soon, Bhavna and her minor son soon were engulfed in flames. Hearing her cries for help, their neighbour, identified as Ramesh Marwadi, came to the crime spot. Ramesh suffered burn injuries while trying to douse the fire. Naresh, in the meantime, managed to take the infant from Bhavna, who was carrying him. Later, the mother-son duo was taken to a hospital.
The woman and her infant kid are said to be stable. The woman in her statement, told the cops that her husband tried to kill her and their child. On the basis of her complaint, the police arrested the accused.
In another incident of crime, a 40-year-old man in Karnataka’s Bengaluru allegedly stabbed his 32-year-old wife to death over suspicion of infidelity.
The accused has been identified as BR Kantharaju. He suspected that his wife, identified as Roopa HG, was having illict relationships with her two male family members.
His suspicion grew when he saw her dancing with the two during a family tour, according to reports. A fight erupted between the couple over the issue. The accused, in a frenzy of anger, stabbed his wife to death.
