Cyclone Fani: At least 2 killed as storm hits Puri and other parts of Odisha

A powerful cyclone 'Fani' has hit the coastal area of Puri, Odisha and the media reports suggest at least 2 people have killed in the cyclone. According to AFP, 2 people killed in the morning when cyclone Fani hit the coastal areas of Odisha. Large areas in the temple town of Puri and other places have submerged as heavy rain battered the coast.

The impact of the landfall is likely to continue since the evening and soon the cyclone will also hit Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal as well.

Landfall in Odisha occurred much ahead of time which was expected and that has become warning for West Bengal as it can hit Bengal part before midnight at a speed of 80-100 kmph.

However, on Saturday evening, the cyclone will move towards Bangladesh. PM Modi in rally in Karauli, Rajasthan said, "I took the latest update from officers. I held a review meeting yesterday. More than Rs 1000 crore was released to concerned governments yesterday in advance. NDRF, Indian Coast Guard, Army, Navy, Air Force are working with administration. I assure the affected people that nation and the Centre are with them."

Thunderstorm with light rain and gusty winds with around 20-30 km/h to take place in areas of Barsana, Bharatpur, Mathura in next few hours.
