With terrific advance booking, Suriya's 24 is all set to become the 2nd highest opener of 2016

Suriya's much-anticipated film, 24, is slated to hit the silver screen on 6 May.

The makers of the film have reason to celebrate as the advance booking for the film has witnessed a terrific start.

Latest reports suggest that advance booking for 24 so far in major areas of Chennai ranged from excellent to very good, with the shows for Friday and Saturday already being sold out in a number of places.

At some places, special screenings for fans are scheduled to begin at 6:30AM. 24 is the second big-budget film from a Tamil superstar to hit the screens this year. Vijay's Theri was released on 14 April.

Going by the amazing response from advance booking, 24 is poised to the second-highest opener of the year. The film is touted to be the biggest-ever release for a Suriya-starrer.

The film is set to release simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu on over 2,000 screens worldwide. Suriya also enjoys a good fan base in Andhra Pradesh, which will translate into more Box Office collections for the film.

24 stars the Ghajini superstar in a triple role. He will play the roles of Athreya, Mani, and Sethuraman.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menen are paired opposite Suriya in the film, which has been directed and written by Vikram Kumar. 24 has been produced by Suriya, under his home banner, 2D Entertainment on a budget of Rs 80 crore. The music has been composed by AR Rahman.

The starcast is currently in the US, where the film's overseas premiere was held on 5 May.
